And as they looked to behold they cast their eyes towards heaven, and they saw the heavens open, and they saw angels descending out of heaven as it were in the midst of fire; and they came down and encircled those little ones about, and they were encircled about with fire; and the angels did minister unto them.
We know that when the righteous meet God their bodies will be transfigured to withstand his glorious fiery presence. I imagine that for these little children to endure the flaming angelic visitation, their bodies were transformed into embers so they would not be destroyed. This image is a comment on the dual nature of fire at the second coming- that of a purifier and of a destroyer.
This is an original handmade etching. It was created at the Lower East Side Printshop. The plate was created by painting with sugar on a copper plate. Boiling water poured on the plate then exposed the painted areas. The plate was then soaked in an acid bath, inked by hand, and run through a printing press to create a this one of a kind image. Each image varies slightly.
