The description of a voice crying from the dust appears more than once in the Book of Mormon. I was surprised to find this reference close to the beginning of the book, with Nephi proclaiming And now, my beloved brethren, all those who are of the house of Israel, and all ye ends of the earth, I speak unto you as the voice of one crying from the dust…
The prophets of old, now skeletons turning to dust, spoke to OUR day, kept the golden plates for the benefit of the saints living today. They saw us in visions and knew that their buried words would one day come to life again.
I love all cutaway images in general- of the earth, of homes, of our bodies- so here I depicted the ground as a cross-section of the layers of a human body complete with hair follicles.
This is an original handmade etching. It was created at the Lower East Side Printshop. The plate was created by etching the lines into a copper plate. The plate was then soaked in an acid bath, inked by hand, and run through a printing press to create a this one of a kind image. Each image varies slightly.
Printed on Rives BFK 280 gsm. The paper size is 11x14".
Comes to you beautifully wrapped!
This image was printed as part of an edition of 8. There are two artist proofs available as well.
